The session focused on the Budget and Expenditure Position for BE 2025-26, covering key sectors including Prisons, Prosecution, Home Guards/CD & SDRF, Fire & Emergency Services, Forensic Sciences Laboratory (FSL), Sainik Welfare, and the PSA Advisory Board.
Key Infrastructure & Project Reviews
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized the timely completion of critical security and forensic projects:
- High-Security Prison: Progress update on the facility at Mahanpur, Kathua.
- Cyber Capabilities: Establishment of a new Cyber Division at FSL Jammu and the technical upgrade of the existing division in Srinagar.
- Border Safety: Accelerated construction of bunkers in border districts to enhance civilian protection.
Strategic Directives
LG Sinha called for coordinated efforts to strengthen the Home Department’s various wings and issued specific instructions regarding prison management:
- Heightened Vigilance: Mandatory frequent checks and enhanced surveillance across all UT prisons.
- Personnel Training: Sensitization programs for prison officers and staff to ensure professional and secure operations.
