SAMBA, May 17: In a major action undertaken in furtherance of the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan and the ongoing drive against illegal activities, the authorities successfully retrieved 50 kanals of state land valued at approximately ₹60 crores at Birpur (Balole Khad), Bari Brahmana in Samba district.
The land had earlier been transferred to J&K SIDCO for further allotment to industrial units to promote industrial development in the region. However, the land had come under illegal occupation by encroachers, including persons reportedly involved in narcotics smuggling and drug-related activities. Taking prompt and decisive action, the authorities launched an eviction drive to restore possession of the land.
Working in close coordination with the Police Department, the District Administration Samba acted swiftly and demolished 33 illegal structures raised on the encroached land in Balole Khad, including four concrete structures, twelve kullas, sixteen temporary structures, and seventeen cattle sheds.
Following the successful eviction drive, possession of the retrieved land was formally handed over to J&K SIDCO.
