A tragic industrial accident occurred on Friday in the Gangyal area of Jammu, where a woman working at a flour mill lost her life after being caught in a machine.
The deceased has been identified as Pooja Devi (30). According to reports, she was employed at a flour mill in Gangyal. Eyewitnesses and family members stated that her scarf (dupatta) became entangled in a machine while she was working, pulling her into the equipment. The accident was so severe that she died on the spot.
Pooja Devi was originally from the Miran Sahib area. She had been living in a rented house in Gangyal with her husband and two sons. To support her family financially and secure a better future for her children, she had taken up the job at the flour mill. Her sons are reported to be 12 and 8 years old.
The news of the incident left the family devastated. A somber atmosphere prevailed at both the hospital and the family’s residence as relatives and local residents gathered to offer support and condolences. The sudden tragedy has brought immense grief to the family.
A relative of the deceased said they were initially informed over the phone that Pooja had fallen ill and had been taken to the hospital. However, upon reaching the hospital, they learned that she had been involved in a serious workplace accident and had already passed away.
At the time of the incident, Pooja’s husband was also at work. Reports suggest that some family members and the children were not immediately informed about the full extent of the tragedy.
Police and the concerned authorities are currently investigating the incident. The exact cause and circumstances surrounding the accident will be determined after the completion of the investigation.
