In a shocking case from Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, police arrested a man who had been posing as an officer of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) to intimidate and deceive people. Acting on specific inputs, police detained the suspect and recovered an IB identity card from his possession. During verification, the card was found to be fake.
The accused has been identified as Ankush Sharma, a resident of Ward No. 6. Preliminary investigations suggest he used the forged identity to gain influence, threaten people, and allegedly extort money. Police have registered a case against him under fraud and other relevant sections.
Investigators are now trying to determine who helped create the fake ID, how many people may have been cheated, and whether others were involved in the racket. Police have urged citizens to report any suspicious individuals claiming to be government officials.
