A tragic incident in Jammu has claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy, leaving his family and the local community in deep mourning. Yudhvir Singh Chib, popularly known as “Yuvi,” drowned in the Tawi River near Har Ki Pauri while reportedly taking selfies and recording videos with friends.
According to reports, the teenager had gone to the riverbank on Sunday morning along with a group of friends. Witnesses said he was using his mobile phone to capture videos near the water when he accidentally moved into a deeper section of the river and disappeared beneath the surface.
Following the incident, teams from the police, SDRF, and local divers launched an extensive search and rescue operation. After hours of continuous efforts, rescuers recovered Yudhvir’s body from the river, bringing the search operation to an end.
The body was shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Jammu for legal formalities and post-mortem examination. After the completion of the necessary procedures, the body was handed over to the bereaved family.
The heartbreaking news has left the family shattered. Relatives and friends were seen grieving outside the hospital, while residents of the area expressed shock and sorrow over the untimely death of the teenager.
Authorities have once again urged people, especially youngsters, to avoid venturing into deep and dangerous sections of rivers while taking selfies, making videos, or engaging in recreational activities near water bodies, as such moments can quickly turn into tragedy.
