A tragic road accident claimed the life of a woman and left her husband injured after a dumper truck allegedly hit their Scooty near Satthe Chak in Jammu district. The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, while police have launched an investigation and are searching for the vehicle and its driver.
According to reports, Rakesh Kumar (56) and his wife Neelam Devi (45), residents of Bagwal in the Chan Rorian area, were traveling on their scooter (registration number JK08D-3734) when the accident occurred. As they were passing through the Satthe Chak area, a speeding dumper reportedly struck their scooter.
The impact of the collision was severe. Neelam Devi sustained fatal injuries and died in the accident, while her husband, Rakesh Kumar, suffered injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. His condition is currently being monitored by medical staff.
Witnesses and preliminary information suggest that the dumper driver fled the spot without stopping to assist the victims.
