The annual Shri Amarnath Yatra resumed on Saturday after remaining suspended for six days due to adverse weather conditions. The pilgrimage had been temporarily halted on July 19, 2026, following heavy rainfall, landslides, and deteriorating weather to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
With weather conditions improving and the pilgrimage routes declared safe, the authorities allowed the Yatra to resume. A fresh batch of devotees departed from the Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp in Jammu early Saturday morning amid tight security arrangements.
The convoy of pilgrims successfully crossed Udhampur and continued its journey towards the Kashmir Valley under the protection of security forces. Officials have put in place comprehensive security, traffic management, and medical facilities to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage.
Authorities have also advised pilgrims to follow all official guidelines and remain updated on weather advisories throughout their journey. The resumption of the Yatra has brought relief and renewed enthusiasm among thousands of devotees waiting to undertake the annual pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine.
