Fresh snowfall and rain swept across parts of Kashmir on Tuesday, though temperatures in most areas of the valley remained unusually high for this time of year, according to official reports.
Snowfall in Higher Reaches
While the plains experienced intermittent rainfall, higher altitudes saw significant snow accumulation. Notable areas included:
- Gulmarg: The premier ski resort in North Kashmir saw intermittent snowfall throughout the night and into Tuesday morning.
- South & North Kashmir: Snow was also reported in Shopian district, along the Mughal Road, and in Gurez (Bandipora).
Temperature Trends
Despite the precipitation, night temperatures across the valley stayed largely above the freezing point, hovering between 3.8 and 5.6 degrees Celsius above the seasonal norm.
