In a continued crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Ganderbal Police apprehended two individuals, including an MBA student, after recovering a heroin-like substance during a routine operation.
Details of the Arrest
The operation took place near Central University on Tullamulla Road under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kheerbhawani. Acting on the directives of SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal, a police team intercepted a Maruti 800 (registration number JK01U-3866) at a standard checkpoint.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as:
- Showkat Ahmad Bhat: Son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat, resident of Batwina.
- Sameer Ahmad Bhat: Son of Mohammad Muzaffar Bhat, an MBA student and resident of Batwina.
Legal Action and Investigation
Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered and seized a quantity of suspected heroin. Following the recovery:
- Case Registered: FIR No. 41/2025 has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
