In a sustained effort to dismantle local drug networks, the Ramban Police recently arrested four individuals in two separate operations, seizing quantities of charas and heroin. These actions highlight the district’s ongoing “zero-tolerance” policy regarding narcotics.
Operation 1: Karol to Maitra (Charas Seizure)
During a routine patrol near Konsi Nalla (Crusher Point), officers inspected a stationary Tata Mobile vehicle. The search led to the recovery of approximately 40–50 grams of charas from each of the two occupants.
- Suspects: Wasim Ahmed (23) of Batote and Nitu Singh (27) of Dundrath.
- Action: Both individuals were taken into custody, and legal proceedings under the NDPS Act have commenced.
Operation 2: Banihal Naka (Heroin Seizure)
At a checkpoint in Kharpura-Chowk, Banihal Police intercepted two men who attempted to flee upon seeing the police party. Following a swift apprehension and search, officers discovered roughly 10–14 grams of heroin hidden in their jacket pockets.
- Suspects: Javid Ahmed Khan and Azad Ahmed, both residents of Kupwara.
- Legal Standing: FIR No. 136/2025 has been registered at PS Banihal under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act.
