The Jammu and Kashmir Dairy Farmers Association (JKDFA) has announced an increase of ₹5 per litre in retail milk prices across the region, citing a steady rise in production and operational costs.
The decision comes amid broader price adjustments in the dairy sector, after major national brands such as Amul and Mother Dairy recently increased milk prices by up to ₹2 per litre.
According to local dairy producers and cooperatives, including the Jammu and Kashmir Milk Producers Cooperative Limited, the hike has been necessitated by rising expenses related to cattle feed, fuel, packaging, and transportation. Industry stakeholders say these cost pressures have made it difficult to maintain sustainable milk production and supply chains without revising prices.
The revised rates are being implemented across various parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Consumers have been advised to stay updated with local market rates and official announcements as the new pricing structure comes into effect.
Dairy sector representatives have stated that the price revision is essential to support farmers’ livelihoods and ensure uninterrupted milk supply in the region.
