Srinagar/Jammu, July 17: The weather in Jammu and Kashmir is expected to undergo a significant change over the coming days, with the Meteorological Department forecasting widespread rainfall and issuing warnings for flash floods, landslides, and waterlogging in several districts.
According to the forecast, July 17-18 will remain generally hot and humid, with brief spells of thundershowers expected at scattered places.
On July 19, rain and thundershowers are likely at many places, while isolated areas of the Jammu Division may experience heavy rainfall and intense showers.
Between July 20 and 22, the region is expected to remain generally cloudy, with frequent spells of rain and thundershowers across most areas. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at a few places in the Jammu Division, while some districts across Jammu and Kashmir could witness torrential downpours.
On July 23, rain and thundershowers are expected to continue at many places, with heavy showers likely in parts of the Jammu Division. Weather activity is expected to ease on July 24-25, with only brief spells of rain at isolated places.
The advisory warns of the possibility of flash floods, landslides, mudslides, rising water levels in rivers and streams, waterlogging, and minor flooding in low-lying areas, particularly during July 20-22. Farmers have been advised to suspend agricultural operations during the adverse weather period, while residents and authorities have been urged to remain alert and plan their activities accordingly.
