Flash floods triggered by intense rainfall caused widespread disruption in parts of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Monday, leaving behind a trail of destruction in the affected areas.
The worst-hit locations included Sarthal and Machhipal, where sudden torrents of water, mud, and debris swept through roads and nearby areas. The flash floods inundated several stretches, disrupting normal movement and creating panic among local residents.
Visuals from the affected areas showed large quantities of debris, rocks, and silt scattered across roads, highlighting the intensity of the flooding. Local residents described the incident as terrifying, with water levels rising rapidly within a short span of time.
Fortunately, no loss of life or injuries have been reported so far. However, the floods caused damage to infrastructure and hampered transportation in several parts of the district.
Authorities have rushed teams to assess the situation and clear the debris. Residents have been advised to remain cautious and avoid venturing near vulnerable areas as weather conditions continue to remain unstable across the region.
