The Jammu division continues to reel under an intense heatwave, with soaring temperatures and hot winds making life difficult for residents. According to the Meteorological Department, Jammu recorded a maximum temperature of over 42°C on Wednesday, which is 2-3 degrees above normal. Meanwhile, Srinagar also witnessed unusually warm weather, with the mercury touching 33°C, around 4-5 degrees higher than the seasonal average.
The weather department has indicated that there is little chance of relief from the heat until later in the day. Residents have been advised to stay hydrated, consume plenty of fluids, and avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight.
However, a change in weather is expected on June 11 and 12. An Orange Alert has been issued for both Jammu and Kashmir divisions, with forecasts of strong winds, thunderstorms, and light to moderate rainfall in several areas, which could bring much-needed relief from the prevailing heat.
