An important update has emerged for devotees planning to undertake the annual Amarnath Yatra this year. The sacred pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave Shrine in Jammu and Kashmir is set to begin on July 3, and the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) has intensified preparations to ensure smooth transportation for pilgrims.
However, devotees will have to pay more for their journey this year, as JKRTC has announced an 18 percent increase in bus fares across various Yatra routes. Confirming the decision, JKRTC Managing Director Rashid Ahmad Wani said the revised fares will be applicable throughout the pilgrimage period.
Despite the fare hike, JKRTC is deploying around 200 modern buses on key routes, including Jammu, Bhagwati Nagar (Yatri Niwas), Pahalgam, and Baltal. The corporation aims to provide frequent and reliable services so that pilgrims do not face long waiting times.
Officials said the buses will be equipped with improved seating and modern facilities to ensure a comfortable travel experience. The administration has also made extensive security arrangements, with security forces deployed along the entire route. Essential services such as drinking water, electricity, and medical camps are being strengthened to ensure a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage for all devotees.
