The weather in Katra turned pleasant on Friday as clouds covered the sky and cool winds swept across the Trikuta Hills. Intermittent light rainfall throughout the day provided much-needed relief from the intense summer heat to pilgrims undertaking the holy pilgrimage to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
Due to the changing weather conditions, helicopter services from Katra remained affected during the afternoon. However, battery car, ropeway, pony, palki, and pithoo services continued to operate smoothly, ensuring uninterrupted movement of pilgrims.
Security and disaster management teams, along with Shrine Board officials, police, and CRPF personnel, remained deployed along the route to ensure a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage. Thousands of devotees continue to arrive in Katra daily. Official figures show that 43,400 pilgrims visited the shrine on June 18, while around 21,000 devotees had registered for the pilgrimage by 2 PM on June 19.
