A major tragedy was averted on Thursday after a passenger bus caught fire on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Karol in Ramban district. Thanks to the prompt action of the driver and timely evacuation, all passengers onboard were safely rescued without any injuries.
According to officials, the bus was travelling on the highway when smoke was noticed, followed by flames engulfing the vehicle. The driver immediately stopped the bus and instructed passengers to evacuate. Within minutes, the fire spread rapidly, completely engulfing the bus.
Police, Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, but the bus was extensively damaged in the fire.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Preliminary reports suggest that a technical fault may have triggered the incident, though the exact reason is yet to be confirmed.
