A teenage girl from Jammu, who had gone missing last month, was rescued from an alleged prostitution racket in Punjab’s Amritsar following a joint operation by Jammu and Kashmir Police. Three people have been arrested in connection with the case, while further investigations are underway.
According to police, the girl, a resident of Rehari in Jammu, left her home on June 30 to appear for an examination at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bakshi Nagar, but did not return. After searching for her without success, her family lodged a missing person complaint at Bakshi Nagar Police Station on July 3.
Police registered a case and formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT). Using technical surveillance and intelligence inputs, investigators traced the girl’s location to Amritsar. A police team reached Punjab on July 6 and successfully rescued her on July 8.
During the investigation, police found that the teenager had allegedly been lured into a prostitution racket operating in Amritsar. Three suspects, including a person known to the victim, were arrested during the operation.
Officials said the rescued girl is safe, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other members of the alleged trafficking network. The investigation is continuing to uncover the full extent of the racket.
