Five pilgrims undertaking the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra were injured after their car met with an accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Friday.
The accident occurred near Toldi Nallah on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and plunge into a roadside ditch.
Soon after the incident, local residents, police personnel, and rescue teams rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. All five injured pilgrims were safely evacuated from the damaged vehicle and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to officials, the injured are receiving medical care and are reported to be in stable condition. Police have registered the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
Despite the mishap, the Shri Amarnath Yatra continues under tight security and extensive safety arrangements across the Union Territory.
