Jammu & Kashmir: Heavy rainfall has caused widespread devastation in the Bhalessa region of Doda district, leaving several areas affected by flash floods, road blockages, and property damage. A cloudburst was reported in the Khaljugaser area of Bhalessa, resulting in significant damage to standing crops, agricultural land, and private property.
The continuous downpour also disrupted connectivity in the Bhatyas area, which remained cut off for several hours after roads were blocked due to heavy rainfall. The disruption caused severe inconvenience to local residents and commuters.
In another unfortunate incident, the house of a poor family was badly damaged during the heavy rains, leaving the affected family in urgent need of assistance.
Residents have expressed concern over the lack of a proper drainage system along the roads, alleging that despite repeated appeals to the local administration, no effective drainage infrastructure has been developed. They said that every spell of heavy rainfall leads to waterlogging, road closures, and damage to public and private property, making daily life increasingly difficult.
The local community has urged the Jammu & Kashmir administration to immediately assess the damage caused by the cloudburst and heavy rainfall, provide adequate relief and compensation to the affected families, restore blocked roads at the earliest, and expedite the construction of a proper drainage system to prevent similar incidents in the future.
