A major road accident took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Wednesday when a bus carrying pilgrims skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge, leaving at least 23 people injured.
According to officials, the pilgrims from Goran and Sumb villages in Samba district were on their way to the Mata Sukrala Devi Temple in Billawar when the accident occurred near Dingi Simbli on Dhar Road.
Local residents rushed to the spot immediately after the crash and launched rescue operations. Police and emergency response teams later joined the rescue efforts and helped evacuate the injured passengers.
All the injured pilgrims were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officials said that four of the injured are in critical condition and are receiving medical care.
