A tragic road accident claimed the life of a tipper driver in the Gantamulla Bala area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, leaving the entire region in mourning.
The deceased has been identified as Ghulam Hassan Bhat alias Hassa Mama, son of Abdul Aziz Bhat and a resident of Gantamulla Bala.
According to local sources, Ghulam Hassan Bhat was driving a sand-laden tipper towards a site where a filtration plant is currently under construction. During the journey, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid off the road and plunge down a steep slope.
The driver sustained critical injuries in the accident. Soon after the incident, police personnel and local residents rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The injured driver was shifted to a hospital by ambulance, but despite the doctors’ best efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident. Necessary legal proceedings are underway.
The tragic death of Ghulam Hassan Bhat has cast a pall of gloom over Gantamulla Bala and adjoining areas. Locals have expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
