In a heartbreaking incident, 17-year-old Ishan Sharma, a resident of Garhigarh in Jammu, lost his life after drowning in Duddhar Nallah in Udhampur. The tragedy has left his family and relatives in deep shock and grief.
According to reports, Ishan Sharma, son of Vipin Sharma, had come to Udhampur to attend a wedding function at a relative’s house. On Tuesday morning, he went to Duddhar Nallah with his friends for a bath. During the outing, he reportedly slipped into deeper waters and drowned.
As soon as the incident came to light, local residents and others present at the spot launched rescue efforts. After a strenuous operation, Ishan was pulled out of the water, but he had already succumbed by then.
Police reached the scene shortly after receiving information about the incident and took custody of the body. The deceased’s body has been kept at the mortuary of Government Medical College (GMC) Udhampur. A case has been registered, and an investigation has been initiated to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
The incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers associated with bathing in rivers, streams, and nallahs, especially during the monsoon season when water levels and currents can change unexpectedly. Authorities have urged people to exercise caution and avoid entering such water bodies to prevent similar tragedies.
