A tragic accident on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) claimed the life of a truck driver in Ramban district on Monday morning.
Officials said that a canter truck, bearing registration number JK02DU-9275, was on its way from Kashmir to Jammu when it met with an accident near Nachlana in Banihal Tehsil. The vehicle reportedly overturned, leaving the driver dead on the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Mohd Zafar, son of Mohd Kassim, a resident of Pampore in south Kashmir.
Following the accident, police personnel and rescue teams immediately reached the site and launched relief operations. The body was later shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal for medico-legal procedures.
The circumstances leading to the accident remain unclear. Authorities have registered the case and started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the mishap.
