A tragic road accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district claimed the lives of two young men on Thursday after a Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) plunged into a deep gorge on the Chamalwas–Neeltop road in Banihal.
According to reports, the vehicle lost control and fell into the gorge, resulting in the deaths of both occupants. The deceased have been identified as Aamir Ahmad, son of Mohammad Shafi Chopan of Batu, and Zeeshan Wani, son of Abdul Latif Wani of Neel Batu.
Soon after the accident was reported, teams from Banihal Police, local NGO volunteers, and residents rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Despite their efforts, both victims succumbed to their injuries.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. The tragic loss has left the local community in mourning.
