Nine people, including eight Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and a civilian driver, were injured after a CISF bus skidded off the road near Tarakote in Reasi district on Sunday afternoon. The accident occurred when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp bend. Fortunately, the bus did not plunge into a deep gorge, preventing a more serious tragedy.
Local residents, police, and rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted all the injured to a nearby health facility. They were later referred to Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, for further treatment. Three personnel, identified as Head Constable Samey Kumar, M.M. Dubey, and Constable P.K. Traya, were later shifted to Narayana Hospital after doctors found their condition to be serious. The remaining injured are reported to be stable and out of danger.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Officials are examining whether the crash resulted from a mechanical failure, brake malfunction, or another factor. Traffic on the route was restored after the rescue operation concluded.
