Rural Police Jammu successfully solved a hit-and-run case registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli in connection with FIR No. 69/2026 under Sections 281/125(a) BNS regarding a road accident that occurred on 13.05.2026 at Kala Jad.
During investigation, police analysed eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage from multiple locations, which revealed the involvement of a grey coloured new generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR that had fled from the spot after hitting the victim.
Through sustained technical investigation, including CCTV tracking, toll plaza verification and CDR analysis, the suspected vehicle bearing registration No. JK14J-5654 was identified.
The vehicle was found to be owned by Rakesh Kumar S/o Mohan Lal R/o Sukki Karlai, Udhampur.
During questioning, the accused confessed to causing the accident and fleeing from the scene. Subsequently, the accused along with the offending vehicle was brought to Police Station Jhajjar Kotli for further legal proceedings.
Rural Police Jammu reiterates its commitment towards prompt investigation and strict action against traffic offenders.
