With the scorching summer heat continuing across Jammu and Kashmir, residents are being advised to prepare for scheduled power outages on June 27 and 28. The Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) has issued an official notification announcing temporary electricity shutdowns in multiple areas to facilitate essential maintenance and repair works on grid stations and transmission lines.
According to the department, the maintenance is necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of the power infrastructure and to prevent overloading during peak summer demand.
June 28: Six-Hour Power Shutdown in Kathua, Samba & Nearby Areas
As per the office of the Chief Engineer (Distribution), a major maintenance exercise will be carried out at the 320 MVA 220/132/66 KV Grid Station Hiranagar from 6:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on June 28.
During this period, several transmission lines, including the 220 KV Bus Bar, 132 KV Hiranagar–Samba–Bari Brahmana (I & II), Hiranagar–Kathua, Hiranagar–Manwal, Samba–Hiranagar Circuit, Sarna–Hiranagar, and Bishnah–Hiranagar lines, will remain shut.
As a result, electricity supply will remain affected in Kathua, Samba, Mahanpur, Sewa, HEP, Billawar, Ghatti, Dayalachak, Hiranagar, and adjoining areas for around six hours. Railway traction supply at Manwal will also be impacted.
Basantpur Tap Line Shutdown
On the same day, power supply through the 66 KV Basantpur Tap Line will remain suspended from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM due to maintenance work.
The outage will affect Dhanna, Then, RTIC, Basantpur, MES Lakhanpur, nearby localities, and the Manwal railway traction supply.
June 27: Power Cut Schedule
Chatroo & Dachhan
Power supply through the 33 KV Deadpath-II Line will remain suspended from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, affecting Chatroo, Mughal Maidan, Ikhala, Dachhan, and surrounding areas.
Udhampur & Industrial Areas
The 33 KV Air Force, DIC, and Udhampur-II Lines will remain shut from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
Areas likely to be affected include Battal Ballian, Industrial Estate Rathian, Malhar, Shakti Nagar, Dhar Road, Pine Villa, DC Office, and nearby localities.
Janipur & Sidhra
An evening shutdown is also scheduled from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on the 33 KV Janipur–Sheetli and Sidhra–Sheetli lines, disrupting electricity supply in all areas connected to these feeders.
Residents are advised to make necessary arrangements in advance and cooperate with the department during the scheduled maintenance work.
