A tragic road accident claimed the life of a Jammu and Kashmir Police Special Police Officer (SPO) while he was returning home with his family after offering prayers at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. Four other family members sustained injuries in the crash.
The accident took place on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway near Jagti in the Nagrota area of Jammu district, where the family’s car collided with a passenger bus. The impact of the collision severely damaged the vehicle.
The deceased has been identified as a J&K Police SPO who was returning to his home in Nowshera after completing the pilgrimage with his family. He suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, where doctors declared him dead. The four injured family members are undergoing treatment, and their condition is reported to be stable.
Police reached the accident site soon after receiving information, shifted the injured to the hospital, and cleared the road to restore traffic. A case has been registered, and an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
Authorities are examining all possible angles, including speeding and negligence, to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal collision.
