Heavy rainfall triggered a massive landslide near the 540 MW Kwar Hydroelectric Power Project in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Monday. Huge quantities of debris and rocks came crashing down, burying several vehicles and causing extensive damage. Rescue and road-clearance teams were rushed to the site, where operations are underway to remove the debris and restore access. Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage, while no official confirmation of casualties has been issued so far. The administration has advised people to avoid the affected area until the route is declared safe.
