The Jammu and Kashmir Government fulfilled a key Budget commitment by announcing a 100% fee waiver for students belonging to Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) families studying in Government Schools (Classes 9 to 12) and Government Degree Colleges across the Union Territory.
The landmark decision is aimed at reducing the financial burden on the most economically vulnerable families and ensuring that no deserving student is deprived of quality education due to financial constraints.
According to the government, the initiative reflects its commitment to making education more accessible and inclusive for disadvantaged sections of society. The fee waiver is expected to benefit thousands of students from AAY households, enabling them to continue their education without worrying about tuition costs.
The move fulfils an important promise made in the Budget and reinforces the government’s focus on supporting underprivileged students through targeted welfare measures.
