A police constable has been dismissed from service by the Kathua Police after remaining absent from duty without authorization for nearly two years, officials said.
According to the police, the constable had been continuously absent from duty without obtaining prior permission or providing any valid explanation. Despite repeated notices issued by the department directing him to resume duty, he failed to report back or submit a satisfactory response regarding his prolonged absence.
Following departmental procedures, an internal inquiry was conducted, which found the constable guilty of unauthorized absence and violation of service rules. Based on the findings of the inquiry, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kathua, ordered his dismissal from service in accordance with the applicable disciplinary regulations.
Police officials stated that the action reflects the department’s commitment to maintaining discipline, accountability, and professionalism within the force. They emphasized that unauthorized absence from duty is a serious breach of service conduct and will not be tolerated.
The Kathua Police reiterated that strict disciplinary action will continue against personnel found violating departmental rules, adding that all officers and employees are expected to uphold the highest standards of responsibility and dedication while performing their duties.
