The annual Shri Amarnath Yatra continued smoothly despite intermittent rain and unfavourable weather conditions, with thousands of devotees undertaking the pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine. A total of 26,403 pilgrims offered prayers during the day, taking the cumulative number of pilgrims to 2,27,411 since the pilgrimage began.
According to official figures, Saturday’s devotees included 18,209 men, 7,434 women, 255 children, 155 sadhus, 12 sadhvis, 11 transgender devotees, and 327 security personnel. Despite rainfall along both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, the pilgrimage remained uninterrupted as devotees continued their journey with unwavering faith.
Meanwhile, the 10th batch of pilgrims departed from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu under tight security arrangements. Officials said 9,182 pilgrims left for the twin base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam in a convoy of 333 vehicles.
The batch comprised 6,455 men, 2,389 women, 31 children, 256 sadhus, 46 sadhvis, and five transgender pilgrims. No foreign pilgrims were part of the group. The convoy included 196 buses, 43 medium motor vehicles (MMVs), 91 light motor vehicles (LMVs), and three two-wheelers.
Authorities said weather conditions are being monitored continuously and all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure the safety, security, and convenience of pilgrims throughout the ongoing Yatra.
