Preparations for the annual Amarnath Yatra have gathered pace in Jammu, with the administration commencing the distribution of tokens to pilgrims at the Tawi River Front from Tuesday. The official registration process for the pilgrims will begin on Wednesday.
To facilitate smooth token distribution, the authorities have established 10 dedicated token counters at the Tawi River Front. A total of 1,600 tokens have been made available for the day, including 800 tokens for the Pahalgam route and 800 tokens for the Baltal route.
Officials said the token system has been introduced to ensure an orderly registration process and to efficiently manage the large number of pilgrims arriving in Jammu before proceeding to the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine.
Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place at the venue, with police and security personnel deployed in and around the token distribution centres to ensure the safety and convenience of the devotees. Crowd management measures have also been implemented to avoid congestion during the distribution process.
The administration has urged pilgrims to follow the prescribed guidelines, cooperate with the authorities, and complete the registration formalities before undertaking the annual pilgrimage. The token distribution and registration process is expected to continue in a systematic manner as the influx of devotees increases in the coming days.
