A 17-year-old student, identified as Yuvraj Singh Chib alias “Yuvi”, went missing after reportedly drowning in the Tawi River in Jammu on Monday morning. Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police, and divers are conducting an intensive search operation to trace the teenager.
According to reports, Yuvraj, a Class 11 student, had arrived at the river along with his friends at around 6:00 a.m. Witnesses said he was making a video near the river when he suddenly slipped into deep water and disappeared.
As soon as the incident was reported, police and SDRF personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Despite continuous efforts throughout the day, no trace of the teenager had been found at the time of reporting.
Family members, friends, and local residents gathered at the riverbank, anxiously awaiting updates. Authorities have appealed to the public, especially youngsters, to avoid venturing into deep sections of the Tawi River, as several areas contain hidden deep pits and strong currents that can be extremely dangerous.
The search operation is continuing, with rescue teams and divers working tirelessly to locate the missing student.
