The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a strong monsoon affecting Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad until August 4.
Residents should expect widespread showers, heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across the region.
According to the IMD’s morning All India Weather Summary and Forecast Bulletin, widespread rainfall is likely over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, and Punjab during July 30-August 4.
Similar rainfall is also expected over Himachal Pradesh and Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad during the same period.
The IMD has forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, and Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad during July 30-August 4. Punjab and Himachal Pradesh are likely to receive isolated heavy rainfall during August 1-4, with isolated very heavy rainfall over Punjab and Himachal Pradesh during July 30-31.
The bulletin has also warned of isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds reaching 30-40 kmph, gusting to 50 kmph, over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad during July 30-August 4.
Current weather conditions are influenced by a deep depression over central Chhattisgarh and northern interior Odisha. The system moved westward in the past six hours and is expected to continue across Chhattisgarh, east Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha, gradually weakening into a depression within 24 hours.
Weather Outlook for the Rest of India In West Uttar Pradesh, fair to fairly widespread rainfall is likely during August 2- 4. East Uttar Pradesh is expected to receive similar rainfall during August 2-4. West Rajasthan is likely to witness widespread rainfall during July 31-August 2, and East Rajasthan during July 30-August 3. Isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over West Uttar Pradesh during July 30-31, East Uttar Pradesh during July 30-August 1, West Rajasthan on July 30 and during August 3-4, and East Rajasthan on August 4.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, gusting to 50 kmph, are also likely over East and West Rajasthan during July 30-August 4. Over Central India, East and West Madhya Pradesh are likely to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall during July 30-August 2, Vidarbha during July 30-August 1 and on August 4, and Chhattisgarh during July 30 and August 1-4.
The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy rainfall, over West Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha on July 30, while East Madhya Pradesh is likely to receive very heavy rainfall at isolated places on July 30.
Thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds are also likely over parts of central India during the forecast period.
