Ahead of the departure of the first batch of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims from Jammu towards Kashmir on Thursday, the Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police has announced traffic restrictions on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway for Wednesday.
According to a traffic advisory, no movement of heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) will be allowed from Qazigund towards Jammu and from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after 7:00 PM on July 1.
However, light motor vehicles (LMVs) will be permitted to ply up to 11:00 PM from Nagrota (Jammu) towards Srinagar and from Qazigund towards Jammu. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
Traffic officials also advised passengers and LMV operators to undertake travel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway during daytime and avoid night travel due to the possibility of shooting stones, landslides and ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
