At least five people were injured after a passenger bus met with an accident in the Mand area of Udhampur on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Tuesday.
According to officials, the bus was travelling from Jammu towards Udhampur when one of its tyres reportedly burst near Mand. Following the tyre burst, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road and fell into a roadside excavation pit created as part of the ongoing highway construction work.
Five passengers sustained injuries in the accident. They were immediately shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Tikri, where they are undergoing treatment. Their condition is stated to be stable.
Police reached the spot soon after the incident, launched a rescue operation, and registered a case. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
