In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Jammu & Kashmir Police have attached an immovable property worth approximately ₹50 lakh belonging to an alleged drug peddler in Kathua district. The action was taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to the police, the attached property belongs to Pankaj Sharma, a resident of Pallan village in Billawar tehsil. The property includes a single-storey residential house with an estimated market value of around ₹50 lakh. During the investigation, the property was found to have been acquired using proceeds allegedly generated through illegal drug trafficking.
The action was carried out by the police team under the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua Mohita Sharma. Investigators found that the accused had constructed the property using money earned from the illicit narcotics trade.
Police said that, in the presence of Revenue Department officials, a team led by the SDPO Billawar and SHO Billawar completed all legal formalities and formally attached the property under Sections 68A(2)(c), 68E, and 68F of the NDPS Act, 1985.
The police reiterated their commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and taking strict action against properties acquired through the proceeds of the illegal narcotics trade.
