Jammu, July 4: A heartbreaking incident has emerged from Ghazia village in the Miran Sahib area of Jammu district, where a former Naib Sarpanch allegedly lost his life after being attacked by his two nephews in a dispute over ancestral land.
The deceased, identified as Satender Kumar alias Bittu, sustained critical injuries in the attack and was first rushed to the Sub-District Hospital, Bishnah. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
According to family members, Satender Kumar had often expressed a final wish to his wife that, if anything ever happened to him, his last rites should be performed at his home instead of a cremation ground. Respecting his wish, his wife performed his last rites inside their under-construction house, making the funeral an emotional and unusual moment for the family and the entire village.
Police acted swiftly after the incident and arrested the two accused nephews. Preliminary investigations indicate that the alleged attack stemmed from a long-standing land dispute, though officials said the exact sequence of events and motive are still under investigation.
The tragic incident has sent shockwaves across the region, highlighting how property disputes can destroy family bonds and lead to irreversible consequences. The case remains under investigation.
