A sensational murder case in Jammu’s Bari Brahmana area has been solved within 48 hours, with police arresting the accused, an ex-serviceman, for allegedly murdering a woman following a dispute related to their long-standing intimate relationship.
According to police officials, on May 18 at around 12 noon, Bari Brahmana Police Station received information about a dead body found inside a house in Ward No. 7, area of Bari Brahmana tehsil. Acting swiftly, police teams rushed to the spot and identified the deceased as Anuradha, wife of Ajay Kumar.
Following the incident, an FIR was registered under relevant sections and an investigation was immediately launched. During the preliminary probe, police collected and analyzed several technical and forensic inputs, including Call Detail Records (CDR), witness statements, dump data analysis, and IBDR analysis.
Based on these findings, multiple locations were identified for raids. Under the supervision of the SDPO Bari Brahmana, police teams conducted extensive search operations at different places.
During the raids, police apprehended the prime suspect, Chael Singh, son of Gyan Singh, a resident of Bhagwan Chak village in Khour tehsil of Jammu district. Technical evidence reportedly confirmed that the accused was present at the victim’s house at the time of the incident.
During sustained interrogation, the accused revealed that he had been in an intimate relationship with the deceased for the past seven to eight years. Investigators also found that the two were distant relatives. Police said frequent disputes had erupted between them over their relationship, and during one such altercation, the accused allegedly murdered the woman.
Police have also recovered the weapon used in the crime. Officials stated that the accused is a former serviceman and is currently employed with Reliance Security Services in Mumbai.
The investigation is still underway, and police said their primary focus is to further strengthen the chain of evidence, complete the case documentation, and file the chargesheet at the earliest.
