Northern Railway’s Jammu Division has earned Rs 66.50 lakh through a special ticket-checking drive conducted across its jurisdiction in May 2026 to curb ticketless and irregular travel and protect railway revenue.
According to official figures available till May 31, the division registered 12,693 cases against passengers travelling without tickets or involved in other forms of irregular travel in the month-long drive. “The enforcement drive generated revenue of Rs 66,50,165,” they said.
Railway officials said intensive checking was carried out by ticket-checking staff at railway stations, aboard trains and on platforms. The revenue was collected from passengers found travelling without tickets, without valid passes, present on platforms without platform tickets and for other ticketing irregularities, they said.
