A major tragedy struck Jammu & Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Saturday when a house collapsed in Bhatian village amid heavy rainfall, leaving one woman dead and two of her family members injured.
According to officials, the house caved in after continuous heavy rain weakened the structure. Local residents rushed to the scene and assisted in the rescue operation before authorities arrived.
The deceased has been identified as Shahida Parveen, wife of Abdul Rehman, a resident of Bhatian village. The two injured family members were shifted to Government Medical College (GMC), Rajouri, where they are undergoing treatment.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation. Authorities have urged residents living in vulnerable or damaged houses to remain alert as heavy rainfall continues across several parts of Jammu & Kashmir.
