The Indian Army has foiled another infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, apprehending a 26-year-old Pakistani national who allegedly tried to enter Indian territory.
According to officials, the incident occurred on Friday evening in the Karmara area of the Gulpur sector, where troops of the Sarla Battalion were conducting routine surveillance. The soldiers spotted a man attempting to cross the LoC and immediately intercepted him.
The detained individual has been identified as Mohammad Sajjad, a resident of Polas village in Bandi Abbaspur, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). He was taken into custody and shifted to the Sarla Battalion headquarters, where security agencies are questioning him to determine the purpose behind his infiltration attempt.
Officials said this is the second infiltration-related incident along the LoC in the past 17 days. Earlier, another Pakistani national who had entered Indian territory through the Pulastya River in the Salotri sector of Poonch was apprehended by the Army. After completing legal and security formalities, he was repatriated to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir through the Chakkan Da Bagh crossing.
Following the latest incident, security forces have intensified surveillance across the area to prevent any further infiltration attempts. Authorities said there is currently no official confirmation of the detainee’s links to any terrorist organisation, and all aspects of the case are being thoroughly investigated. Further details will be shared after the investigation is completed.
