SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma, IPS conducted a comprehensive tour of the yatra route to assess the security and logistical arrangements put in place for the forthcoming pilgrimage.
During the inspection, the SSP Kathua reviewed the deployment of personnel at various locations, checked the available nafri, and interacted with officers and security personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Police as well as the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) deployed for yatra duties. She briefed the officers and personnel on security protocols, operational preparedness, and the importance of maintaining constant vigilance to ensure a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage.
As part of the tour, SSP Kathua inspected several critical locations, including the reception centre at Lakhanpur and the Moga Langar site, where she reviewed arrangements made for the convenience and security of pilgrims.
The SSP Kathua stated that extensive security arrangements have been put in place this year, with the deployment of additional police and CAPF personnel supported by advanced surveillance and security equipment, including anti-drone systems. A robust and multi-layered security grid has been established along the National Highway, key railway infrastructure, and the border belt. She further noted that traditional infiltration routes have been effectively plugged through heavy deployment and intensified surveillance measures to eliminate any security vulnerabilities during the yatra period.
Emphasizing the coordinated approach being adopted for the pilgrimage, the SSP said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police, CAPFs, civil administration, and other stakeholder agencies are working in close synergy and tandem to ensure the smooth, secure, and successful conduct of the yatra.
Several district officers accompanied the SSP Kathua during the inspection and jointly reviewed preparedness measures at various points along the yatra route.
