Srinagar, 24 June 2026: The two-day specialized training programme on NDPS Investigation and National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS), organized by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Crime Branch J&K under the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, concluded today at the Auditorium of the Directorate of Information, Srinagar.
The valedictory function was presided over by Ms. Sarah Rizvi, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Crime Branch J&K, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest. Addressing the participants, the IGP Crime Branch emphasized the pivotal role of Investigating Officers in combating the menace of drug trafficking and substance abuse. She underscored the importance of professional excellence, scientific investigation, effective utilization of forensic tools, and strict adherence to legal procedures for securing successful prosecution in NDPS cases.
A total of 94 Investigating Officers from the districts of South Kashmir Range (SKR) and Central Kashmir Range (CKR) participated in the programme and received intensive training from subject matter experts and senior officers on various aspects of narcotics investigations.
During the two-day programme, participants were trained on key provisions of the NDPS Act, legal and technical dimensions of narcotics investigations, financial investigations in drug trafficking cases, common defects observed during investigations and trials, preventive detention under the PIT-NDPS Act, recent Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the operational aspects of the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS). The programme also featured interactive discussions, practical exercises, and evaluation tests aimed at enhancing the professional competence of the participants.
The IGP Crime Branch appreciated the efforts of ANTF and the resource persons for organizing a comprehensive and practical training programme. She reiterated that capacity building of field investigators remains a critical pillar in the larger strategy of the Jammu & Kashmir Police to effectively tackle the drug menace and achieve the objectives of a drug-free society.

The participants expressed their appreciation for the initiative and highlighted the usefulness of the practical and legal insights imparted during the training. The programme is expected to significantly strengthen the quality of NDPS investigations and contribute towards more effective enforcement efforts across Jammu & Kashmir.
The successful culmination of the training programme marks another important step under the 100-Day Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, reaffirming the commitment of Jammu & Kashmir Police towards strengthening institutional capacity and combating drug abuse and illicit trafficking through a coordinated, professional, and technology-driven approach.
