New Delhi: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has made a major announcement, saying that India could soon witness the introduction of a “flying bus” as part of the country’s future public transport system.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Lucknow–Kanpur Expressway, Gadkari said that advanced transportation technologies are essential to address the growing problems of traffic congestion and air pollution. According to media reports, he stated that just as he fulfilled his promise of introducing a seaplane capable of landing on water, he is now working on bringing a bus that can “fly through the air.”
“Now I am going to bring a bus that will fly in the air,” Gadkari said, expressing confidence in delivering on his commitment.
His remarks are being viewed as a reference to next-generation aerial public transport solutions such as ropeway-based transit systems, Sky Bus, pod taxis, and other urban aerial mobility projects that the central government has been exploring to improve transportation efficiency and reduce congestion in major cities.
