Rajouri: A long-standing land dispute turned deadly in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, where a 45-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his own brother in Behrote village of Thanamandi subdivision.
According to police, the deceased, Muneer Hussain, was constructing a boundary wall on a piece of land near his house when his brother, Mohammad Razaq, along with other family members, objected to the work. The disagreement soon escalated into a heated argument.
The situation turned violent when Razaq allegedly attacked Muneer Hussain with an axe, striking him on the head and leaving him critically injured. He was immediately rushed to the Sub-District Hospital in Thanamandi and later referred to the Government Medical College (GMC) Associated Hospital in Rajouri. However, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Sources said the two brothers had been involved in a long-running dispute over the property, and several clashes had reportedly taken place between them in the past over the same issue.
Police have registered a murder case at Thanamandi Police Station against Mohammad Razaq and two other family members. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
